Fuerza FC (1-0-0) played their first-ever NWPL match after two seasons in the WPSL and came away with a 2-1 win over Yakima United (0-2-0) on Sunday night at Goddard Stadium in Everett.
In Kent, Seattle Stars FC (0-0-2) played to their second straight draw in a 1-1 contest against South Sound’s Shock (1-1-0).
On Saturday night the Spokane Shadow (2-0-0) roughed up the Twin City Union (0-2-0) 9-0.
Seattle Stars 1-1 South Sound Shock
The South Sound Women struck first in the 12th minute with a goal from Jamie Hoffman off a cross in from Emily Hanna. Just as the half was closing Shock player Delaney Smith was red-carded for a foul in the penalty area. Angela Celedon converted the PK for the Stars. The Shock played with 10 players the entire second half but managed to draw the match, even creating chances to win it outright before the final whistle.
Fuerza FC 2-1 Yakima United
Fuerza FC struck for goals in the 30th and 35th minutes in a home win over the Hoppers. Espy Soriano got the first goal for Purple, and Jalisa Santiago made it 2-0 5 minutes later. Yakima answered back in the 68th minute when Isabell Nunez scored.
