There were four matches last week in Northwest Premier League play. Two of them involved the Olympic Force, who played back-to-back and managed to split their weekend. In Centralia the Union offense broke out, while in University Place the Shock moved into first place.
Fuerza FC 1-2 Olympic Force
The Force (1-2-1) scored their first win of the season at Goddard Stadium in Everett by handing Fuerza FC (1-1-1) their first loss.
The match was scoreless until the 55th when Fuerza took the lead on a goal by McKenzie Buell (assist to Espy Soriano-Sanchez.)
The Force won it with goals by Angelique White (64th, assist to Colette Lyons) and Brita Oleson (74th, assist to Daisy Vaquez.)
South Sound 4-0 Olympic Force
Lauren Larson scored twice as the Shock of South Sound FC (3-0-1) took over first place in the NWPL on Sunday with a win over the Force (1-2-1.) It was a close 1-0 match at halftime before the home side pulled away.
Larson’s goals came in the 54th and 78th minutes. The match winner was scored in the 35th minute by Emily Wilkins. Anna Gentile added a capper in the 90th.
Liz Griffith assisted on the first and last goals for the Shock. McKenna Ferrera and Jamie Hoffman dished out the other two. Takara Matsui earned the shutout.
Twin City Union 4-2 Seattle Stars FC
Going into Sunday’s match the Union (1-2-1) had scored just one goal. They blew past that total in the first half, scoring four times in an eventual 4-2 win over the Stars (0-2-2.)
Whitney Lowe scored twice and assisted on the other two Union goals. Her assists went to goals for Stephanie Yoder and Ellie Quercia.
The Stars got one in the first half from Norma Lomeli and a Union own goal in the late stages.
