Wenatchee has a soccer team again.

The Northwest Premier League has accepted a Wenatchee franchise for its 2017 season, the NCW Alliance.

The appearance of NCW Alliance, a women’s team, occurs weeks after the announcement that Wenatchee FC, a men’s team, would not return to its league, the EPLWA in the 2017 season.

Alliance’s General Manager, Ed Navarro said the ownership group of the team was very excited to have been accepted into the NWPL.
“We have a lot of good talent in this area and NCW Alliance FC wants to showcase that talent around the state,” Navarro wrote in a statement.

The team, Navarro said, will reach out and build relationship with youth clubs, college teams and communities, seeking to establish a solid program.
The season does not start until spring, but this looks to be a busy wintertime for Navarro and the rest of the team, with coaching staff announcements and the scheduling of future tryout days.

“It’s going to be an exciting spring,” Navarro wrote.

The team comes to fruition at a special time for girls’ and women’s soccer in Central Washington. Wenatchee Valley College had a good season under coach Anya Belcher, and Cascade High School in Leavenworth made the 1A state final four.
