Timbers sweep to playoff spot, Force stay alive


The Washington Timbers swept their weekend matches to jump to second in the Northwest Premier League table and clinch a playoff spot. The Olympic Force beat the heat in Wenatchee to stay alive in the race for a final playoff spot.

Olympic Force 0-5 Washington Timbers

PORT ORCHARD, WA— The hot weekend began with a big win for the Timbers at South Kitsap High School. The Timbers pulled away in the second half to earn their 5th win of the season and clinch a playoff spot.

NCW Alliance 0-1 Olympic Force

WENATCHEE, WA— It was 99 degrees at kickoff but the Olympic Force got a single goal and remain alive for a NWPL playoff spot. The goal came in the 38th minute from Deseree Doty. Force goalkeeper Ricci Wiedbrecht recorded her league-leading 4th shut out.

Washington Timbers 2-1 WPSS Shock

VANCOUVER, WA— The Timbers followed up their playoff clincher by making a play for a top two seed and a first round bye. The Timbers topped WPSS Shock at Harmony Sports Complex to move into second place in the NWPL table.

The Shock cling to the sixth and final playoff spot, one point ahead of the Force. However WPSS does have 3 matches still to play.
