2017 NWPL Golden Gloves: Ricci Wiedbrecht, Olympic Force

BREMERTON, WA— The Northwest Premier League (NWPL) today announces that Olympic Force goalkeeper Ricci Wiedbrecht has been awarded the Golden Gloves trophy for the 2017 season.

Wiebrecht led the NWPL is shutouts in 2017 with 4 complete match (played all 90+ minutes) clean sheets. Her total was double the number of any other shot stopper in the league.

Ricci’s back story includes her return to competitive soccer in 2017. The 31-year-old mother of 4 last played at the community college level for Tacoma CC back in 2004-2005.

This season in the NWPL Ricci made save after save to keep her Olympic Force in matches. She displayed technical accuracy in her positioning, bravery in her desire to get the ball and calm and steady hands once the ball was stopped.

Wiedbrecht’s season and this honor serve to highlight players returning to the game and the league hopes it will inspire women around Washington to hit the pitch for their local clubs in 2018.
