SEATTLE, WA— The Northwest Premier League (NWPL) were guests at the last Seattle Reign FC match of their 2017 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season on Sunday September 24. Before the match the league held its annual meeting at the Hyatt House under the shadow of the Space Needle.
The NWPL held a 2-hour meeting to review the 2017 season and make plans and adjustments for the 2018 campaign. Six of the nine league teams had a representative present while a 7th team listened in via cell phone.
A wide range of topics were discussed, from minimum league standards, to length of season, to marketing and out reach, and expansion. NWPL President Bill Wright led the gathering through an agenda focused on living up to the league’s hashtag: #FastForward.
The meeting also gave the league the chance to give Seattle Stars Head Coach Chris Wells his 2017 NWPL Coach of the Year award. Chris was voted the honor at the end of the season by member clubs.
Seattle Reign FC facilitated the NWPL’s use of a Hyatt House conference room and then provided tickets for the league to take in their final home match of the season. It was an affair attended by 5,000 fans with plenty of nice swag as well.
Next up for the NWPL is continuing to follow our players as they compete in colleges and finalizing league minutes that will in turn be presented to the clubs to vote on in regards to operational and institutional updates. After that, the league will continue to entertain club applications and then prepare for the release of the 2018 schedule in the first few months of the new year.
