BREMERTON, WA—The Northwest Premier League today announces that the head coaches and general managers of the nine member clubs have voted on the #OurTime NWPL Players of the Week for May 20, 2018. The honorees are Natalie Nagle of Yakima United (Offense) and Ashley Homer of the Seattle Stars (Defense.)
Natalie Nagle of Yakima United (West Valley High, Western Illinois University) scored two second half goals as the Hoppers beat their Wenatchee rivals NCW Alliance 3-2 on Sunday at the Apple Bowl. In addition, Natalie controlled much of the play in the attacking third and was a driving force in Yakima’s play going forward. (Tracie Fowler photo.) Nagle got enough POTW votes to finish just ahead of Washington Premier’s Amanda Rickey, who also scored twice in her club’s 3-0 win over the Twin City Union.
Ashley Homer of the Seattle Stars (Puyallup High, Western Washington University) did something in goal that hadn’t been done since July 8, 2017 – she and her defense shut out defending league champions Washington Timbers at Starfire on Saturday May 19. Homer organized a solid defense and made the saves when it mattered as the Stars took a 2-0 win. (WWU photo.) Homer fended off a challenge from Yakima United goalkeeper Katie Fowler, who also got support for her performance in a 3-2 win at NCW Alliance.
