Oly Town Artesians Win 2022 NWPL Championship

The Oly Town Artesians scored an 89th minute equalizer and Olivia Brock made two saves during penalty kicks and the Artesians captured their first Northwest Premier League championship on Saturday in Salem.

The Artesians opened the scoring on Capital FC Atletica’s home field at Willamette University when Haylee Ward struck in the 41st minute. But just moments later, Vicky Cruz Rosales tied the game up in the 43rd and the half came to an end with the two squads knotted up at 1-1.

Capital took a 2-1 lead in the 69th minute when Juliana Pires received a pass from Julia Sattler and slotted it home. They held that advantage until Brieanna Dell scored an 89th minute equalizer and regular time came to an end tied at 2-2.

In the penalty kick shootout, the first two shooters for both clubs buried their shots, but after Brooke Streeter made it 3-2 for the Artesians, Brock made a save on Emily Hyde’s shot. Haylee Ward then made it 4-2 and Brock made another save to clinch the title for the Oly Town Artesians.

It is the first title for the Oly Town Artesians in their first season in the NWPL. They played an independent schedule in 2021 before joining the league for this season.
