Snohomish County, the defending Northwest Premier League Indoor champions, opened up their 2023 season in style with a resounding 9-1 win over the Oly-Pen Force on Saturday night at the Snohomish Sports Dome. M’ily Morton and Kayla Soderstrom each scored twice in the win.

Maggie Tonkin opened the scoring with 5:21 left in the first quarter and Morton scored her first goal of the game late in the quarter to take a 2-0 lead after the first 15 minutes. Soderstrom picked up her first goal early in the second quarter and the Steeleheads added one more to go up 4-0 before the Force finally got on the board on Jules Bushaw’s goal with 4:41 left in the half. Morton closed out the half with her second goal and the first half ended with Snohomish County up 5-1.

Snohomish kept a clean sheet the rest of the way and scored four more times, including Soderstrom’s second goal of the game and ran away with the 9-1 win.
