Snohomish Holds Off Bellingham Comeback, Galaxy Shutout Force

Snohomish County took a 6-2 lead into the fourth quarter but had to fight off a last minute comeback attempt by Bellingham United to pick up a 6-5 win at the Bellingham Sportsplex. Olivia Larson scored twice in the victory while Bellingham United was led by two goals from Emily Webster and Peyton Fullner.

The Steelheads struck first with a goal by M’ily Morton less than a minute into the contest. Larson then scored just 30 seconds after that and added another three minutes later to put Snohomish up 3-0. The Bellingham defense settled down after that, allowing just one more goal during the half and went to break down 4-1.

Webster made it 4-2 midway through the third quarter but Mariah Roggow and Sarah Stochel finished off the quarter with goals for Snohomish to make it 6-2 after three. Peyton Fullner started the Bellingham comeback with a goal at the 7:01 mark, and then the Hammers scored with 1:37 left and 56 seconds left but ran out of time and Snohomish escaped Bellingham with a 6-5 win.

The Tacoma Galaxy picked up their first win of the season with a dominant 10-0 win over the visiting Oly-Pen Force on Saturday night in Tacoma. Julia Causbie scored twice in the win.

Haley Roberson opened the scoring for the Galaxy midway through the first quarter to open the floodgates. They scored four more times during the first half, including Causbie’s first goal of the contest late in the second quarter. The Galaxy poured it on in the third quarter with Causbie’s second strike making it 7-0 with 5:45 left in the third. They finished it off with a goal in the fourth and held on to the clean sheet to improve to 1-1 on the season.
