Tacoma Tops Snohomish To Clinch Championship Game Spot, Bellingham Explode For 11 Goals

The Tacoma Galaxy clinched a spot in the championship game with a 7-2 win over Snohomish County, snapping Snohomish’s lengthy winning streak and putting the #1 spot in the game and rights two host the championship in question with just one game remaining.

Tacoma started slow with just one goal over the first 30 minutes – Julia Causbie’s first of three with 2:15 left in the first quarter. Peyton Chick and Kiana Jacobson scored twice for the Snohomish and gave the Steelheads a 2-1 lead at the half. Tacoma would not allow another goal the rest of the way while Kayley Cruz tied the game early in the third and Arica Slawson’s goal minutes later turned out to be the eventual game winner. Causbie added two more goals in a four goal fourth quarter.

The two teams will face each other again next Saturday to determine who will host the league championship game.

Peyton Fullner scored four goals and Bellingham United got braces from Emily Webster and Stephanie Hamilton in their 11-3 win over the Oly-Pen Force.

Bellingham exploded for five goals in the first quarter and another four in the second quarter to to a 9-2 lead at the half. Oly-Pen’s defense settled down and allowed just two more goals in the second half but were only able to add one more and Bellingham improved to 2-3 this season with the home victory.
