The Northwest Premier League has adjusted its format in light of two new clubs coming into the circuit in 2017 as well as in response to a lack of parity in the 2016 table which was dominated by the Spokane Shadow and South Sound Shock.

The new clubs are North Central Washington Alliance (Wenatchee) and Washington Timbers (Vancouver, WA.)

The adjusted 9-club unbalanced schedule features matches against clubs with similar 2016 records as well as a shortened regular season and playoffs which will run for a few weekends in July.

The two Northwest Premier League (NWPL) sides had never met before because NCW are a new club and new to the league this season. Yakima United helped found the NWPL in 2016.

While this match was a preseason ‘friendly,’ the two sides will play each other in a NWPL counter on June 17 at Sozo Sports in Yakima.

The final score of the match was 1-0 for Yakima. A free kick goal from Natalie Nagle was enough for the Hoppers to claim the first win in the fledgling central Washington derby.

NWPL raises game with 2017 Ruffneck Scarves league and POTW scarves

Northwest Premier League - B Designs - Revision 01

SCARF Template - February 2017 - NoCurves

Ruffneck Scarves is a partner of the Northwest Premier League for a second straight season! This year we have worked with Ruffneck to raise our scarf game just like fans raise their scarves over their heads in honor of their favorite clubs!

The 2017 NWPL League Scarf features all 9 club crests on one side and 3 of the league ‘marks’ on the other side: NWPL crest, word mark and compass alternate mark.

This year the NWPL will award “Player  of the Week” scarves. These sharply designed beauties feature dark grey and neon green with a hexagon pattern.

Ruffneck Scarves worked with NWPL Media Director David Falk on the designs. “We want to explain a bit of who and what we are with strong graphic statements in these scarves,” Falk says. “They are the newer Ruffneck “Summer scarves,” and those allow full resolution photos. We have taken advantage of that in the league scarf with the grass and soccer netting backdrop in high definition along with the club crests.”
