Week 2 Recap: Capital Cities Pick Up The Points

Oly Town Artesians 2, Vancouver Victory 1

The Oly Town Artesians picked up their first NWPL win when Haylee Ward scored an 86th minute game winner in Vancouver. The Artesians kicked it off with a goal from Nicole Fesenbek in the 24th minute and held the advantage through halftime. The Victory equalized in the 50th on Brianna Garfias’ strike before Ward scored the winner just minutes before full time. Both teams are now 1-1-0 this season.

Capital FC Atletica 5, Oly-Pen Force 0

Capital FC Atletica scored four times in the second half, including two goals by Paige Alexander on assists by Rin Choi, to top the Oly-Pen Force 5-0 on Saturday in Salem. Valeria Castro started the scoring in the 33rd minute and the two teams went to the break with Capital holding a 1-0 lead. But Clara Mattison made it 2-0 in the 51st and then Vicky Cruz Rosales started a three goal run over eight minutes with her goal in the 72nd, followed by both of Alexander’s goals. Capital improved to 2-0-0 this season while Oly-Pen fell to 0-2-0.
